About the position

The Assistant Federal Security Director-Law Enforcement (AFSD-LE) serves as a principal law enforcement official at Bangor International Airport, reporting to the Special Agent in Charge. This role involves ensuring the safety and security of the airport through collaboration with various law enforcement agencies and the Federal Security Director. The AFSD-LE is responsible for leading security programs, conducting threat assessments, and managing investigations related to airport security violations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a principal law enforcement official providing advice and assistance to the Federal Security Director (FSD) and airport staff.
  • Assist the FSD by leading management of special airport security programs, providing direction and guidance to staff.
  • Act as the TSA representative within the local law enforcement community, partnering with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Conduct threat assessments and vulnerability assessments for airport security.
  • Independently conduct reviews of transportation security measures and operations, documenting violations and coordinating remedial actions.
  • Facilitate investigations in partnership with other law enforcement agencies regarding potential or actual violations of law.
  • Notify the Transportation Security Operations Center (TSOC) regarding incidents to ensure appropriate information sharing.

Requirements

  • Must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
  • Must complete a favorable Background Investigation (BI).
  • Must have reached the minimum age of 21 at the time of application.
  • Must have at least one year of federal primary law enforcement experience at the SV-1801-I Pay Band (GS-13) or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in conducting research and preparing memoranda to develop and update policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with joint terrorism task forces and other law enforcement-related task force groups.
