About the position

The Federal Financial Systems Developer/Analyst position at Modern Government Solutions (MGS) involves providing development expertise to address complex technical challenges and implement new features for financial systems. The role requires collaboration with business analysts and testers, as well as mentoring junior developers, all while ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update custom software code for financial systems.
• Analyze problem reports and prepare accurate schedule estimates to develop solutions.
• Document software code sufficiently and accurately.
• Provide support to business analysts and testers in identifying anomalies.
• Reliably and accurately report progress within the software development support tools.
• Provide program documentation input for design and solution elements.
• Assist junior developers and manage development tasks as needed.
• Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

Requirements

• Must possess an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
• Bachelor's degree within systems development, finance, or another relevant field, or 4 years of additional relevant work experience.
• 5+ years of C++ development experience.
• 2+ years of webMethods development experience.
• 4+ years' experience in Java programming.
• 3+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
• Experience supporting Momentum Financial Management software.
• Experience working in an Oracle RDBMS environment.
• Exposure to large scale ERP development solutions.
• Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism.
• Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with Momentum 8.x architecture (OpenShift Container Platform, JBoss, ActiveMQ).
• 2+ years of experience working with Javascript.
• 1+ year of experience working in a Linux development environment.
• Familiar with BIRT Report Designer.
• Fundamental understanding of federal financials.
• Knowledge of the SAP Business Objects tool suite.
• Experience with JIRA.
