About the position

The Federal Program Manager for Alaska at HDR is responsible for contributing to the strategic direction and growth of federal programs. This role involves managing client relationships, overseeing project execution, and ensuring client satisfaction while leading complex, multi-discipline projects. The position requires strong leadership, business development skills, and the ability to mentor less-experienced staff.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Federal programs resulting in continuous program growth.
  • Work with client managers to update and execute client plans.
  • Serve as client manager for select clients, understanding and communicating client organization.
  • Develop and communicate awareness of upcoming opportunities and pursuits, including new service offerings.
  • Ensure Client Plans are current and executed effectively.
  • Schedule and conduct periodic client management team meetings with relevant HDR PMs and Contract Managers.
  • Participate in management reviews and communicate with Contract Managers to maintain awareness of HDR support to Client.
  • Develop and maintain relationships within the client organization to ensure awareness of needs and delivery issues.
  • Communicate with client organization to gauge satisfaction and identify concerns with HDR support.
  • Identify contract opportunities and lead/participate in pursuits and proposals as required.
  • Lead contract utilization efforts for select clients and contracts.
  • Assist in resolving issues on problem projects and identifying potential Joint Venture partners.
  • Plan, direct, and monitor multidiscipline projects with high technical complexity, typically over $5 million.
  • Execute and deliver on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at project sites.
  • Coordinate staffing and workload through the project development lifecycle to meet delivery schedules.
  • Work with HDR leadership for routine project reviews and implement QA/QC procedures.
  • Supervise project staff and mentor less-experienced staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 10 years related experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with MS Office and MS Project; Access experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated leadership, business development, and strategic planning skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in the employee-owned culture.

Nice-to-haves

  • Alaska PE License.
  • 5 years federal project management experience.
  • Experience working with A/E/C consulting firms.
  • Experience with USACE, AFCEC, or NGB agencies.
