About the position

The Federal Project Accounting Manager at HDR, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the accounting activities of the Federal Services Group (FSG). This role involves managing project accounting functions, training Federal Project Accountants, and collaborating with various departments to ensure accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires strong analytical, leadership, and management skills to effectively guide the accounting staff and support project financial functions.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, perform, and manage accounting activities for the Federal Services Group (FSG).
  • Perform project accounting functions including project setup, invoicing, and financial performance analysis.
  • Manage and train Federal Project Accountants in various project financial functions.
  • Collaborate with corporate and operations accounting to provide timely project information.
  • Generate monthly invoices in accordance with contract terms and deadlines.
  • Analyze financial performance of projects, including evaluation of forecasts and earned value.
  • Provide support to Federal Project Accountants in all project lifecycle areas.
  • Attend and participate in project and business reviews as necessary.
  • Deliver external Federal reporting such as Incurred Cost Submission and GSA IFF.
  • Manage Federal Project Accounting staff, including performance reviews and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably 5 to 10 years.
  • Previous supervision of staff is highly desired.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, preferably with project accounting experience.
  • Experience in the A/E/C industry is preferred.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office applications and A/E/C Project-Based Software.
  • Oracle software experience is desired.
  • Self-motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Oracle EBS/Pronto software.
  • Knowledge of Federal Program requirements.
