About the position

Baker Tilly is seeking a Federal Credits and Incentives (C&I) Senior Associate to join its growing Federal statutory credits practice. This role involves working closely with middle market clients to identify, calculate, and document eligible federal tax credits, primarily under the Inflation Reduction Act. The position emphasizes collaboration with industry experts and offers opportunities for professional development and leadership within a fast-growing team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic federal tax credit consulting services to middle market clients.
  • Document eligibility and qualification of clients for federal tax credits in collaboration with industry experts.
  • Research and draft technical memoranda related to federal tax credit matters.
  • Support industry experts with tax technical issues.
  • Develop industry thought leadership through writing articles and preparing presentations.
  • Understand each client's business to become a functional expert in relevant technical areas.
  • Assist in managing client engagement staffing, billings/collections, and ensure client profitability targets are met.
  • Network and build strong relationships internally and externally with colleagues, clients, and the community.
  • Participate in professional development and firm-wide learning programs.
  • Act as a career advisor to associates and review their work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science or related field required; Master's or advanced degree preferred.
  • CPA or JD highly preferred.
  • Two (2)+ years of work experience in federal tax consulting, preferably in federal statutory credits related to the Inflation Reduction Act, CHIPS Act, Opportunity Zones, and Work Opportunity Tax Credit.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience, mentoring and counseling team members is desired.
  • Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, and demonstrate commitment to continuous learning.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and timely project completion.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S. without sponsorship, highly preferred.
