Lumen is seeking a passionate Federal Solution Engineer who will play a pivotal role in leveraging technology innovation to enhance customer experiences and drive business growth. This customer-facing position requires collaboration with Sales and Customer Success Executives to lead innovative discussions that shape the growth of our customers. The Solution Engineer will be responsible for designing and architecting solutions using Lumen's technology services platform, ensuring that the solutions align with customer needs and provide significant business value. In this role, the Solution Engineer will analyze customer requirements through strategic discovery, utilizing technical thought leadership to discuss industry best practices and present tailored product offerings. The successful candidate will possess a strong desire to combine technical expertise with sales acumen, developing a technical sales strategy that effectively addresses customer requirements. This position requires a deep understanding of customer business objectives and the ability to craft custom solutions that differentiate Lumen's services. The Solution Engineer will also act as a customer advocate, participating in pre-sales efforts, including technical sales presentations, architecture design discussions, and proof-of-concept engagements. This role involves delivering findings on key pain points, proposed solutions, and return on investment (ROI) where applicable. Additionally, the Solution Engineer will support local sales teams in pursuing key business opportunities and collaborate with various internal teams to establish credibility and trust with customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in federal accounts, a willingness to obtain security clearance, and technical knowledge across various domains, including global network infrastructure, edge cloud capabilities, and security solutions. Responsibilities

  • Leads and attends customer meetings in person and via collaboration tools.
  • Prepares and delivers technical proposals and presentations tailored to the audience.
  • Provides broad scope responses to solution and technology questions.
  • Demonstrates strong solution selling abilities and effective customer communications.
  • Analyzes and identifies customer business and technology objectives through technical discovery.
  • Architects client solutions to meet gathered requirements and assess business impacts.
  • Crafts and proposes custom solutions that differentiate Lumen's services.
  • Advises customers and sales teams on technical aspects of proposed solutions.
  • Participates in pre-sales efforts including technical sales presentations and architecture design discussions.
  • Acts as a customer advocate, delivering findings on key pain points and proposed solutions.

Requirements

  • Federal Accounts Knowledge and Experience is required.
  • Ability and Willingness to Obtain Security Clearance is required.
  • US Citizenship is Required.
  • Technical knowledge across global network infrastructure, edge cloud capabilities, and connected security.
  • B.S. Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience in the private sector or military.
  • Five years Plus of WLAN Experience is required.
  • Fundamental understanding of Unified Communications.
  • Fundamental understanding in Cloud & Architecture design - AWS, Google Cloud, Azure.
  • Fundamental understanding in Network Functions Virtualization.
  • Industry certifications in WLAN or other specialized technologies are a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding in Security solutions - SASE, Fortinet.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and engage in complex deal discussions with internal teams.
  • Strong presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences.
