About the position

Lumen is seeking a passionate Federal Solution Engineer who will play a pivotal role in leveraging technology innovation to enhance customer experiences. This customer-facing position requires collaboration with Sales and Customer Success Executives to lead innovative discussions that drive customer growth. The Solution Engineer will design and architect solutions using Lumen's technology services platform, ensuring that they align with customer business requirements and deliver significant business value. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and sales acumen, enabling them to develop effective technical sales strategies and present tailored solutions to meet customer needs. In this role, the Solution Engineer will conduct thorough analyses of customer needs through strategic discovery processes. They will utilize their technical thought leadership to discuss industry best practices and present Lumen's product offerings in a manner that resonates with each customer's specific business outcomes. The position requires a strong understanding of federal accounts, as well as the ability to obtain security clearance, which is essential for engaging with government clients. The Solution Engineer will lead customer meetings, both in-person and virtually, preparing and delivering technical proposals and presentations that demonstrate a high level of business acumen. They will be responsible for crafting custom solutions that differentiate Lumen's services, ensuring that they meet the unique requirements of each customer. Additionally, the role involves providing internal and external training on the technical aspects of proposed solutions, acting as a customer advocate during pre-sales efforts, and contributing to the development of technical sales strategies. The successful candidate will also support local sales teams in pursuing key business opportunities, collaborating with various stakeholders to establish credibility and trust with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and attend customer meetings in person and via collaboration tools.
  • Prepare and deliver technical proposals and presentations tailored to the audience.
  • Analyze and identify customer business and technology objectives through technical discovery.
  • Architect client solutions to meet gathered requirements and assess business impacts.
  • Craft and propose custom solutions that meet customer requirements and desired business outcomes.
  • Advise customers and sales teams on technical aspects of proposed solutions.
  • Provide internal feedback to product management and sales leadership regarding customer experience and product features.
  • Act as a customer advocate in pre-sales efforts, including technical presentations and architecture discussions.
  • Support local sales teams in pursuing key business opportunities and engage customers on data lifecycle aspects.

Requirements

  • Federal Accounts Knowledge and Experience is required.
  • Ability and Willingness to Obtain Security Clearance is required.
  • US Citizenship is Required.
  • Technical knowledge across global network infrastructure, edge cloud capabilities, connected security, and communication services.
  • B.S. Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience in the private sector or military.
  • Five years Plus of WLAN Experience is required.
  • Fundamental understanding of Unified Communications.
  • Fundamental understanding in Cloud & Architecture design - AWS, Google Cloud, Azure.
  • Fundamental understanding in Network Functions Virtualization.
  • Fundamental understanding in Security solutions - SASE, Fortinet.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lead and engage in complex deal discussions with internal teams.
  • Strong presentation skills for both technical and executive audiences.

  • Industry certifications in specialized technologies (WLAN) are a plus.
