About the position
Butterball, LLC, one of America's most iconic brands, is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team in the Raleigh-Durham area. This position is crucial for acquiring raw materials and composing animal-specific feed tailored to meet the diverse needs of turkeys. The role involves ensuring that the feed provided to our farms satisfies the demands of turkeys at various stages of their lifecycle. Given the nature of our business, constant communication between farms, service personnel, and our facilities is essential to align our supplies with projected demand. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily testing and record-keeping of feed-related ingredients and finished feed products for both North Carolina feed mills and Butterball LLC. This includes the preparation of chemical solutions, general laboratory housekeeping, and the operation of basic laboratory equipment used in testing procedures for feeds and/or ingredients. The role also involves sample preparation, testing of ingredients and feeds, and computation of results from testing procedures. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for shipping samples to other laboratories for external testing and must comprehend and use all safety equipment necessary for conducting testing, data entry, and summary report generation. Compliance with OSHA and Butterball's rules and regulations is mandatory to maintain a safe work environment. The employee must also follow all company regulations pertaining to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety, which includes not having any birds or swine at their home in any capacity. Other duties may be assigned by supervisors or management as needed.
Responsibilities
- Daily testing and record keeping of feed-related ingredients and finished feed products for both NC feed mills and Butterball LLC.
- Preparation of chemical solutions.
- General laboratory housekeeping.
- Operation of basic laboratory equipment used in the testing procedures for feeds and/or ingredients.
- Sample preparation, testing of ingredients and feeds, computation of results from testing procedures.
- Shipment of samples to other laboratories for external testing.
- Comprehension and use of all safety equipment used to properly conduct testing, data entry, and summary report generation.
- Compliance with OSHA and Butterball rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
- Follow all company regulations pertaining to biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
- Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor/management.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled or working towards an associate degree in Animal Science, Microbiology, Poultry Science, Animal Science, or a related degree program or related work experience.
- Must have a High School Diploma.
- A valid North Carolina Driver's License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record preferred, reliable transportation.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Chemical Safety Training preferred.
