About the position
The Feeder/Folder position at Alsco Uniforms involves a variety of tasks centered around the handling and processing of clean textiles. The primary responsibility is to continuously grasp, sort, and grade textiles, ensuring they meet quality standards. This role requires the individual to either fold textiles by hand or feed them into an ironer or folding machine for final finishing. The position is essential in maintaining the efficiency and quality of the production process, contributing to the overall customer experience that Alsco Uniforms prides itself on. As a Feeder/Folder, you will be expected to perform various tasks that include sorting and inspecting textiles, folding and packaging them, and ensuring that the finished products are placed correctly onto conveyors or into carts. The role also involves moving loaded or empty carts and bins within the production area, processing textiles according to type and written packing instructions, and adhering to safety and efficiency standards. Keeping the work area neat and clean is also a critical part of the job. The physical demands of the job include standing, walking, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 lbs. The work environment may vary in temperature and may include exposure to odors, humidity, lint, and dust typical of an industrial laundry facility.
Responsibilities
- Grasp textiles from a cart/bin and sort, inspect, and grade according to quality standards.
- Fold, assemble, and package by hand different types and sizes of textiles.
- Feed different types and sizes of textiles into ironers or folding machines.
- Place finished product onto conveyors or into carts, and dump slings of product onto work tables.
- Move loaded or empty carts/bins within the production area.
- Process textiles according to type and written packing instructions.
- Continuously meet efficiency and safety standards for the position.
- Follow instructions as directed by supervision.
- Keep the work area neat and clean.
- Work in other production positions as needed.
