About the position
Emergent Global Solutions (EGS) is seeking temporary Emergency Management personnel with expertise in FEMA 404 and 406 Hazard Mitigation to join a standby disaster response and recovery team. The role requires flexibility for deployment on short notice and may involve extended periods of work in various locations affected by disasters.
Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying, developing, and evaluating opportunities for hazard mitigation projects to reduce or eliminate risk from future events (Sections 404 and 406).
- Develop hazard mitigation proposals (HMPs) and conduct benefit-cost analysis (BCA) as needed to protect damaged elements and facilities from future damage.
- Prepare hazard mitigation proposals, grant applications, BCA, and other services related to the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Pre-Disaster Mitigation, and other mitigation programs.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience in hazard mitigation project development and evaluation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Incident Command System/National Incident Management System (ICS/NIMS) or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant applications.
- Ability to engage professionally with local, state, and federal entities in high-pressure environments.
- Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills utilizing critical thinking and analytical abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and meet multiple competing deadlines.
