About the position

The FEMA CRC Technical Specialist at AECOM is responsible for providing technical expertise in the design and construction of public infrastructure as part of FEMA's Public Assistance Program. This role involves conducting site inspections, preparing scopes of work, estimating costs for complex projects, and ensuring compliance with FEMA guidelines. The position primarily supports FEMA's Consolidated Resource Centers and requires collaboration with various stakeholders to facilitate disaster recovery efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections for complex/specialized damages related to FEMA's Public Assistance Program.
  • Prepare Scopes of Work (SOW) and cost estimates for complex projects based on provided documentation.
  • Write hazard mitigation SOW and estimate costs based on input from applicants and specialists.
  • Evaluate cost effectiveness of proposed hazard mitigation measures.
  • Review complex projects for potential eligibility concerns and initiate requests for information as needed.
  • Process amendments related to changes in SOW requests for complex projects.
  • Review requests for Alternative Procedures and process amendments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain DHS Public Trust clearance.
  • Technical knowledge in the design and/or construction of public infrastructure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with FEMA's Public Assistance Program and Consolidated Resource Centers.
  • Experience using FEMA Grants Manager and cost estimating software (e.g., RSMeans, Xactimate).
  • Current DHS Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service and strong problem-solving skills.
