About the position

The Fetal Medicine Program Coordinator at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland plays a crucial role in navigating and directing care for patients referred to the Fetal Treatment Center (FTC). This position requires a deep understanding of pregnancy complications and congenital anomalies, ensuring efficient patient care flow and continuity of care through collaboration with various medical professionals. The Coordinator is responsible for screening patient referrals, coordinating evaluations, and assisting in quality improvement projects, all while maintaining thorough documentation in electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Screen patient referrals and triage communications from patients and families.
  • Coordinate patient evaluations and follow-up care as requested by FTC providers.
  • Act as a liaison between referring services, FTC SF, outpatient administrators, and clinical staff.
  • Assist in implementing patient care standards and practices based on specific fetal diagnoses.
  • Work collaboratively with FTC Physicians to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Collect data for the fetal database and assist in quality projects.
  • Optimize the use of electronic medical records and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Utilize an interdisciplinary approach to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing, Case Management, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Three or more years of recent experience in fetal medicine, neonatal/pediatric intensive care, or high-risk perinatal care.
  • One year of case management experience preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in California (if RN).
  • CITI training certification (or within 6 months of hire).
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Billing/authorization experience.
  • Data system design and management experience.
  • Experience with quality improvement systems, such as Lean.
