About the position

Prince Telecom is hiring entry level Fiber Installation Technicians in Raleigh, NC to join our team and help connect America! As a Fiber Installation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, disconnecting, reconnecting, adding, changing, and troubleshooting fiber optic internet and telephone services in accordance with guidelines. You will use small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment, and install, set up, and configure residential networking equipment such as ONT's, routers, and switches. Your role will also involve ensuring that service operates within prescribed parameters by performing testing on company-issued devices and customer devices, as well as attempting to identify and remedy sources of customer-perceived issues. You will drive a company vehicle between home/office, warehouse, and work sites in a safe and courteous manner, clean, maintain, and stock your vehicle and equipment, and complete paperwork accurately while reporting and recording work order status updates. Customer service duties will include greeting and interacting with customers in a professional manner, reviewing all requested services with customers, and educating them regarding product and service usage.

Responsibilities

  • Install, disconnect, reconnect, add, change, and troubleshoot fiber optic internet and telephone services.
  • Use small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.

  • Perform testing on company-issued devices and customer devices.
  • Identify and remedy sources of customer-perceived issues.
  • Drive a company vehicle safely between locations.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock vehicle and equipment.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and report work order status updates.
  • Provide customer service by greeting and interacting with customers professionally.
  • Review requested services with customers to ensure understanding.
  • Educate customers regarding product and service usage.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver's license with a minimum of 2 years driving experience.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience or comfort working in tight spaces such as crawl spaces or attics.
  • Ability to work through inclement weather.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to travel and work extended hours, including overtime and weekends.
  • Ability to lift, climb, and carry ladders weighing up to 80lbs.
