Fiber Optic Technician

About the position

The Fiber Optic Technician role involves performing fiber optic splicing and testing in various settings, including both indoor and outdoor environments. The technician will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing network infrastructure equipment, ensuring high-quality service delivery to customers. This position offers on-the-job training and is suitable for candidates willing to learn and grow in the field of fiber optics.

Responsibilities

• Perform fiber optic splicing and testing in both indoor and outdoor settings
• Operate bucket trucks to access aerial fiber optic cables
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair network infrastructure equipment
• Conduct field service visits to customer sites for maintenance and repairs
• Utilize welding techniques for fiber optic cable splicing
• Install and terminate fiber optic cabling
• Ensure proper documentation of all splicing and testing activities

Requirements

• Previous experience in fiber splicing and network infrastructure
• Proficient in operating bucket trucks for aerial work
• Knowledge of electrical work, including high voltage connections
• Strong understanding of fiber optic cable installation and termination
• Ability to perform field service visits for maintenance and repairs
• Excellent troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving issues
• Attention to detail and ability to follow technical specifications
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
