About the position

The Fiber Optic Technician at Circet USA is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service in various Outside Plant areas, including customer premises and fiber huts. This role involves troubleshooting fiber optic issues, responding to customer inquiries, determining fault locations, and making necessary repairs to restore fiber services. The technician will also coordinate with subcontractors and be on call during specified times, ensuring excellent customer care and service delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Physically place, remove, or modify non-working equipment or perform small excavation of buried splice enclosures or fiber optic terminals.
  • Pull fiber optic cable as needed for repairs.
  • Install or remove equipment in a fiber optic hut.
  • Troubleshoot and test Fiber GPON service from end user to fiber hut using an OTDR to locate trouble locations.
  • Perform service installs at end user locations for GPON services, ensuring proper light levels and connecting end user equipment.
  • Identify, label, and terminate fiber optic cables.
  • Fusion splice fibers and properly dress cable and splice trays within an enclosure.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret work orders, drawings, records, and manuals.
  • Interact with all members of the organization including Installation, Engineering, and Project Management.
  • Provide updates to service tickets in Circet USA and/or customer ticketing system.
  • Be on call 24 hours per day during specified on-call schedule and respond to customer outages.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Technical degree preferred.
  • Previous experience or knowledge in OSP or construction field work is preferred.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft programs and applications.
  • Demonstrate proficient use of IOS and/or Android applications.
  • Exhibit personal power and leadership.
  • Exhibit self-awareness and a tendency for continuing education and self-improvement.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and determination.
  • Exhibit industry awareness and intellectual curiosity.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational skills and a strong problem-solving approach.

  • Have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to and from work.
