About the position

The Fiberglass Repair Technician is responsible for performing high-quality repairs on fiberglass boat hulls and structures. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs on fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and other structures, including gel coat repairs, structural repairs, and cosmetic refinishing.
• Inspect damaged boats to determine the extent of damage and the best repair methods.
• Prepare surfaces for repair by cleaning, sanding, and masking as necessary.
• Apply fiberglass matting, resin, and gel coat to repair damaged areas.
• Conduct thorough inspections of completed repairs to ensure they meet quality standards and customer expectations.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, including work orders, parts used, and time spent on each job.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Work closely with other technicians, service advisors, and management to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiberglass and gelcoat repair, preferably in a marine environment.
• Proficient in fiberglass repair techniques, including gelcoat application, sanding, and finishing.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Understanding of marine safety standards and repair procedures.
• Familiarity with various types of fiberglass materials and resins.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, ascend/descend a ladder and work in various weather conditions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Relevant certifications in fiberglass repair or marine technology are a plus.
