About the position

The Python Developer position at Matlen Silver is a critical role within the Global Market and Banking sector, focusing on the development, enhancement, modification, and maintenance of applications. This position is designed for an experienced developer who can effectively assist the Desk/Finance teams with trading and front office reporting on a daily basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and capturing requirements using Jira, ensuring that these requirements are developed and delivered according to the agreed goals with users. The role requires proficiency in Python and Java, along with a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and design patterns. A background in financial derivatives is considered a plus, as the developer will need to perform detailed data analysis to proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations. Attention to detail and the ability to learn new skills and concepts quickly are essential traits for this position. In addition to technical skills, the candidate must possess good written and verbal communication skills, leadership abilities, and a positive attitude, especially when working under pressure. The developer will coordinate work across various applications, operations, or projects as necessary to maintain or deliver the required business objectives. This includes participating in the design, development, reviews, and implementation of data warehousing technologies to meet both business and technology requirements. The role also involves providing technology recommendations for the design, implementation, modification, or conversion of software application systems, particularly those involving big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and AMPS. The developer will serve as a subject matter expert for various data warehousing and ETL technologies, translating business needs into formal business requirements and corresponding deliverables. Leadership on projects and guiding team members to achieve results will also be a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, modify, and maintain applications in the Global Market and Banking sector.
• Assist Desk/Finance on trading and front office reporting on a daily basis.
• Formulate and capture requirements in Jira and ensure they are developed and delivered according to agreed goals with users.
• Perform detailed data analysis to proactively identify and resolve issues to comply with rules and regulations.
• Coordinate work across various applications, operations, or projects to maintain or deliver required business objectives.
• Participate in the design, development, reviews, and implementation of data warehousing technologies to satisfy business and technology requirements.
• Provide technology recommendations for designing, implementing, modifying, or converting software application systems involving big data technologies.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for various data warehousing and ETL technologies to satisfy multiple requirements across Global Compliance.
• Implement projects and solutions as outlined in the requirements, design, and project charter.
• Provide leadership on projects and guide team members in achieving results.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
• 8+ years of professional experience, with banking experience being a plus.
• Proficient in Python and Java, with a strong understanding of OOP concepts and design patterns.
• Financial knowledge in derivatives is a plus.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Leadership skills and a positive attitude, with the ability to work under pressure.
• Attention to detail and ability to learn new skills and concepts quickly.
