About the position

The Field Application Engineer for AMD/Xilinx at Avnet plays a crucial role in the technical sales team, focusing on hardware and software aspects of customer systems. This position involves engaging with customers in both pre-sale and post-sale activities, providing technical leadership, and developing strong relationships with engineers and architects to drive design win strategies. The ideal candidate will be proactive, enthusiastic, and possess a deep understanding of SoC technology, working collaboratively to solve technical challenges and deliver tailored solutions.

Responsibilities

• Drive and manage Xilinx technical related initiatives & activities for key customers in alignment with the AMD Xilinx dedicated Technical Sales Engineer (TSE)
• Provide technical leadership and guidance focusing on AMD Xilinx design win strategies for customer opportunities
• Develop relationships with and become a trusted advisor to system engineers & architects in assigned key accounts
• Drive the technical part of strategy proposals for key customer programs
• Advise customer designers on the optimum use of Xilinx IP, software tools, and hardware devices
• Manage technical support issues within the customer base and collaborate with AMD Xilinx technical specialists when required
• Collaborate with field and AMD Xilinx factory resources to develop and deliver technical proposals to customer project managers and engineers
• Lead with technical solution creation to demonstrate value propositions
• Work with 3rd party ecosystem partners to support custom solutions into the customer base
• Attend internal and external AMD Xilinx technical training to maintain certification

Requirements

• Experience with FPGA and ASIC design tools, specifically Vivado/Vitis, ISE, or Quartus
• Ability to identify customer key care-abouts and contribute to sales strategy
• Knowledge of customers' end products and market requirements
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong presentation skills and ability to work with multiple groups
• Clear communication skills at both high system and deep technical levels
• Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize activities
• Team player with a positive attitude

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in designing with AMD Xilinx FPGA's & SoCs
• Knowledge of embedded system design tools such as Vivado & Vitis
• Knowledge of board design requirements for FPGA's & SoC's
• Design experience using high-performance external memory interface controllers
• Embedded processing knowledge, familiar with x86 and ARM architectures
