About the position

The Field Application Engineer position at Parker Lord's APS Division involves providing mechanical and chemical technical support for application equipment and Parker Lord products. This role is crucial for ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency in the West Coast of the United States and Western Canada. The position requires strong communication skills, independence, and the ability to work in a field environment, including after-hours support for customers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical technical service on application equipment and Parker Lord products.
  • Offer chemical technical service related to Parker Lord products.
  • Support Application Engineering for opportunities and customers in the West Coast and Western Canada.
  • Be on call 24/7 for customer support of Parker Lord products in production and during prototype trials.
  • Participate in initial training at various Parker Lord sites and customer locations.
  • Travel for customer support, with requirements of 20-25% after initial training.
  • Collaborate daily with customer engineering, operators, and staff.
  • Communicate frequently through verbal and written reports for internal and external use.
  • Troubleshoot meter-mix-dispensing equipment and other related equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for chemical adhesives aspects of Parker Lord products.
  • Perform routine and non-routine technical service in a customer manufacturing environment.
  • Oversee equipment, Parker Lord product application, and inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a similar field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing plant or chemical lab environment with customer interaction.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to operate safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to apply basic statistics and interpret results.
  • Proficiency in using computerized equipment and software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
