About the position

The Field Application Engineer at Apera AI is responsible for helping customers implement AI-powered robotic vision in their manufacturing facilities. This role involves designing robotic workcells, collaborating with customers and partners, and ensuring successful project implementation. The ideal candidate will leverage their automation engineering knowledge and interpersonal skills to solve complex problems in advanced manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Specify and design robotic workcells using Apera's AI-powered vision software.
  • Collaborate with customers, Certified Partners, and the sales team to define customer problems and present solutions.
  • Ensure customer success by transferring successful proposals to the operations team for implementation.
  • Define automation solutions for various industries including automotive, aerospace, and food and beverage.
  • Write detailed technical proposals and presentations that align Apera AI's technology with customer requirements.
  • Communicate application knowledge and customer experiences to the engineering team for product development.
  • Utilize AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint in daily tasks.
  • Participate in special projects supporting other departments within the company.
  • Maintain high ethical standards in all business activities.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience in automation, mechatronics, controls, or a similar field.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field such as mechatronics, systems design, or controls, or a technologist diploma with related experience.
  • Working knowledge of robotics, machine controls, automation principles, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills in English; a second language is a bonus.
  • Experience with vision systems and robot programming (Kuka, Fanuc, ABB, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in industries such as automotive, aerospace, food and beverage, and consumer packaged goods.
  • Familiarity with robotic bin picking, packaging, machine tending, and assembly applications.
