About the position

The Field Application Engineer - Microcontroller role at Insight Global involves providing technical support and driving design wins for microcontroller-based embedded systems. The engineer will work closely with customers to understand their technical needs, lead proof of concept initiatives, and synthesize insights to enhance product roadmaps. This position requires collaboration with sales teams and partners to ensure effective communication and timely information flow, ultimately supporting the sales objectives and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver premium technical support in content and time to assigned customers
  • Accountable to drive design wins in their target accounts and target technology
  • Lead proof of concept, solution design, and demonstrations to secure solutions design-in
  • Synthesize customer and competitive insights to improve product definition and roadmaps
  • Direct the design-in campaigns for assigned customers to ensure early involvement in the customers technology roadmap
  • Understand and communicate how ecosystem solutions can position in the best possible manner
  • Qualify sales opportunities in terms of customer technical requirements and establish value proposition relative to the competition
  • Qualify the value of products and quantify the technical benefits derived from choosing
  • Own the system software architect role to ensure broader technical team understands the software value proposition for system proposals
  • Build relationships with sales team members, business lines, partners, and customers
  • Analyze customer's technical objectives through relevant data gathering techniques
  • Assist in educating Field Sales Engineers on new technologies and product features
  • Develop system level knowledge of target application spaces

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years development engineering or applications support of microcontroller based embedded systems
  • Field Application Engineering experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Experience with C and C++ and a record of developing embedded firmware
  • Demonstrated knowledge of typical SoC hardware interfaces (Ethernet, MIPI, SDIO, LP DDR3/4, Quad/Octal SPI, USB2.0/3.0, UART, SPI, I2C)
  • Knowledge of ARM Cortex M and A based register programming models
  • Experience using Real-Time OS systems: FreeRTOS and Zephyr preferred
  • Ability to read, understand and review schematics and provide design recommendations

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge in wireless protocols WiFi, ZigBee, BLE, etc. is preferred
