About the position

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) at ITT plays a crucial role in collaborating with the Cannon North Americas Sales team and customer engineers to recommend products and technical solutions for new design applications. This position involves engaging with customers to identify system design requirements and technical challenges, leading the development of solutions to meet customer needs, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure successful product development from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Provide product and technical solutions capability presentations to customers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between customer engineering and the internal cross-functional team.
  • Manage and coordinate multiple activities related to Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Operational support.
  • Build relationships with the customer technical community to identify technical requirements of new designs.
  • Understand technical market trends and identify product expansion opportunities.
  • Capture Voice of Customer and develop technical solutions to secure new design wins.
  • General engineering product setup, design, and management including the design of new components and assemblies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 10+ years of connector design engineering experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of related industry experience in connector design.
  • Strong understanding of connector, cable, and system design and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to directly manage customer engagements with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Team player with demonstrated leadership skills across functional departments.
  • Organizational skills to anticipate, prioritize, plan, and organize to meet strategic objectives with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to travel periodically (up to 40%).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the Transportation & Industrial markets (Rail, Heavy Vehicles, Energy).
  • Experience in Harsh Environment Circular Connectors, Electrical Cabling, High Power or High-Speed Data transfer.
  • Knowledge in the use of high-performance thermoplastics, aluminums, and copper alloys and the manufacturing requirements needed to utilize them.
