About the position

The Teradyne Field Applications team is seeking a highly-motivated and energetic Field Applications Engineering - Team Leader. This role is pivotal in managing a team of engineers while also working collaboratively and independently to develop innovative and practical application solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing a team of 4-6 individuals, ensuring that work is effectively managed, performance reviews are conducted, and funding is appropriately allocated. The team leader will also support the sales account manager in crafting the overall global account strategy, ensuring that applications execution aligns with agreed objectives, and providing direct technical support to customers. In this dynamic role, the team leader will engage in a variety of activities that can change from week to week and even day to day. Key responsibilities include devising innovative techniques for testing and characterizing cutting-edge technology, assisting the technical lead in developing project schedules, and evaluating project data for accuracy. The team leader will also be responsible for setting project targets and priorities, managing scope changes, and communicating project assessments to both internal teams and external customers. Additionally, the role involves leading demonstration development programs, teaching technical classes and seminars to customers and Teradyne engineers, and identifying risks while forming contingency plans promptly. The position requires a commitment to travel, with expectations of 25% or greater travel to customer sites to support various engineering teams, including Design Engineers, Test Engineers, Product Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers. This role is essential for ensuring that Teradyne's applications meet customer needs and that the team operates efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 4-6 people, including conducting performance reviews and managing funding.
  • Support the sales account manager in developing the overall/global account strategy.
  • Responsible for overall applications execution and ensuring right staffing against agreed objectives.
  • Provide direct technical support to customers.
  • Devise innovative techniques for testing and characterizing leading edge technology.
  • Assist the technical lead in creating and developing project schedules.
  • Evaluate project data for accuracy and set project targets and priorities.
  • Travel to customer sites to support Design Engineers, Test Engineers, Product Engineers, and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Integrate input from various sources to propose solutions and respond to RFPs.
  • Manage scope changes and communicate periodic project assessments to internal teams and external customers.
  • Lead demonstration development programs and presentations.
  • Identify risks and form contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Teach technical classes and seminars to customers and Teradyne engineers.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of experience with ATE equipment such as Teradyne UltraFlex, UltraFlexPlus, Eagle, Advantest V93K, or other test equipment.
  • Hands-on experience in IC component testing project development.
  • Strong programming experience in C, C++, or Visual Basic.
  • Proficient in Windows and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and documentation communication skills.
  • Project management and team management experience is highly desired.
  • Good leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel 25% or more, both domestically and internationally.
