About the position

The Application Engineer will serve as the primary technical resource for industrial and commercial clients in the Denver area, focusing on the installation and support of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS). This role involves significant travel, including up to 75% overnight travel, to meet with clients and ensure successful system implementation and training. The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary security clearances.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers, contractors, and end-users in a team environment.
  • Provide software installation, upgrade, and start-up services for Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) software.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and device communications and provide customer training for the commissioned system.
  • Consult with customers to determine system operation requirements.
  • Specify and purchase hardware/software as required by project.
  • Configure and commission Schneider Electric and third-party hardware.
  • Document the as-built system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
  • Experience with meters, including troubleshooting and upgrade/installation.
  • Knowledge of contract specifications and electrical drawing packages.
  • Experience setting up communications with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation Systems, Systems Integration, and/or Energy Management Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working around electrical equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
  • Good understanding of industry standard communication protocols, especially Modbus, IEC 61850, and BACnet.
  • Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
  • Knowledgeable in programming languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, etc.), databases (SQL), and HTML development.
  • HMI configuration experience, including graphical screen development.
  • Direct experience with Schneider Electric proprietary software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Wonderware.
