About the position

At Avnet, we are committed to driving the design chain value proposition by generating the greatest number of design wins in technologies and registrations for our customers engaged in product design. This role involves interfacing with the engineering departments of both customers and suppliers, performing a variety of product, technical, and engineering functions, including pre/post sales support, research, design, and development. The successful candidate will proactively develop and implement a technical sales account penetration strategy in each market, presenting new products and technologies to current and potential customers. This includes developing knowledge to uncover, understand, compare, and contrast solutions, as well as providing valuable participation in supplier/customer design reviews. A good understanding of customer needs relative to products, technology, direction, competition, design process, and design cycle is essential. The role requires identifying and developing relationships with key technical decision-makers and influencers in each account, discovering design requirements from the system level down to each individual element, and collaborating with design, production, and engineering departments to develop and execute technical strategies that help solve customer design challenges. The candidate will also support the sales team by driving the adoption of advocated solutions with supplier partners, leading to increased design activity, design wins, and sales growth. In addition, the role involves providing general application and product-level sales training, aligning with the sales team to secure business, and communicating account calls with suppliers, account managers, and inside sales. The candidate will identify and track the largest design opportunities from concept to production, utilizing all supplier resources to assure the greatest potential for success. Creating presentations and other sales tools to enhance technical value and become a "trusted advisor" to both internal and external customers is also a key responsibility. The candidate will manage the product from beginning to end, which involves communication and in-depth consultation with customers, sales, and vendors. Researching major industry players to communicate industry trends and directions to customers is also part of the role. A thorough understanding of product lifecycles and the ability to design a full solution based on customer expectations of product performance, lifecycles, and total costs is required. Attendance at internal and external technical training to maintain necessary certifications is also expected.
