About the position

As the primary Application Engineer, you will be responsible for providing coverage for industrial and commercial clients in Idaho and the surrounding region. This role requires extensive travel to customer sites, both locally and out of state, with the potential for up to 75% overnight travel. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are essential, as you will be required to travel frequently. Additionally, candidates must be able to obtain necessary clearances and credentials, which may include Homeland Security clearance, background checks, and credit checks. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position. In this role, you will interact with customers, contractors, and end-users, and must work effectively in a team environment. Your responsibilities will include providing software installation, upgrades, and start-up services for Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) software. You will troubleshoot equipment and device communications and provide customer training for the commissioned systems. Consulting with customers to determine system operation requirements, specifying and purchasing necessary hardware and software, and configuring and commissioning Schneider Electric and third-party hardware will also be part of your duties. Documentation of the as-built system is crucial to ensure clarity and compliance. To be successful in this position, you should have a passion for helping clients use electrical power more efficiently. A Bachelor's degree in engineering is strongly preferred, along with excellent communication and client interaction skills. You should be confident and capable of taking projects through to completion, with experience in troubleshooting and upgrading meters. Knowledge of contract specifications and electrical drawing packages is essential, as is experience in setting up communications with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation Systems, Systems Integration, and/or Energy Management Systems.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
  • Experience with meters (troubleshooting and upgrade/installation).
  • Knowledge of, and ability to interpret contract specifications and electrical drawing packages.
  • Experience setting up communications with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation Systems, Systems Integration, and/or Energy Management Systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working around electrical equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
  • Good understanding of industry standard communication protocols with an emphasis on Modbus, IEC 61850, and BACnet.
  • Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
  • Knowledgeable in computer programming languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, etc.), databases (SQL), and HTML development.
  • HMI configuration experience, including graphical screen development.
  • Direct experience with Schneider Electric proprietary software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Wonderware.
