About the position

The Application Engineer position at Schneider Electric is a customer-facing role focused on the deployment of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) at data center facilities. This home-based position requires significant travel to local customer sites and potentially 60-80% travel outside the region. The successful candidate will perform software installation, customization, and troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring equipment, while also providing customer training and consulting on system operation requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform software installation, customization, and start-up services for Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
  • Conduct start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring equipment.
  • Manage device communications and provide customer training for the commissioned system.
  • Consult with customers to determine system operation requirements.
  • Install and upgrade EPMS software and configure Schneider Electric and 3rd party hardware.
  • Document the as-built system and ensure accurate records are maintained.
  • Travel daily to customer sites and manage the majority of travel domestically, with occasional international opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with electrical fundamentals and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot network communications and interpret contract specifications and electrical drawings.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and out of state as needed (60-80% out of state travel potential).
  • Stable work history and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven environment.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving history.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems, Building Automation Systems, Systems Integration, or Energy Management Systems.
  • Experience working around electrical equipment such as switchgear, generators, and UPS systems.
  • Understanding of power generation, distribution, and quality concepts.
  • Knowledge of industry-standard communication protocols (Modbus, IEC 61850, BACnet).
  • Familiarity with computer networking architectures and programming languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, Python, SQL, HTML).
  • HMI configuration experience, including graphical screen development.
  • Direct experience with Schneider Electric proprietary software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Wonderware.
