About the position

Teledyne Technologies Incorporated is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team at Teledyne Relays, a business unit of Teledyne Defense Electronics, LLC. This role is pivotal in providing technical support and solutions to our Sales and Marketing Department, specifically targeting the Aerospace, Defense, Test & Measurement, Industrial, Space, Communication, and Medical markets. As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding client applications and offering tailored technical solutions across Teledyne's diverse product line families, which include Electromechanical Relays, Solid State Relays, Power Controllers, RF COAX Switches, and RF Matrix switching systems. In this position, you will collaborate closely with outside sales representatives, traveling to meet with targeted customers, conducting webinars, and resolving technical issues to secure design wins. Your role will also involve providing both pre-sales and post-sales technical support to direct and POS customers, ensuring they receive the highest level of service. You will be tasked with creating weekly and monthly status reports on designs and opportunities, working alongside the design engineering team and manufacturing to facilitate new product development and definition. Additionally, you will perform competitive analysis and gather customer feedback to recommend product improvements and new catalog offerings. Your marketing skills will be utilized as you work with the marketing and website manager to create promotional materials and advertisements. Participation in tradeshows and meetings to promote Teledyne's products and capabilities will also be a key aspect of your role. You will maintain datasheets and catalogs for our product lines and support the RMA process in collaboration with the inside sales team and quality department. This position requires proficiency in a CRM environment to document service and technical support provided to clients and follow up as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the clients' applications and offer technical solutions related to Teledyne's product line families.
  • Work with a team of outside sales representatives and travel to targeted customers.

  • Collaborate with the design engineering team, manufacturing, and other functional areas for new product development.
  • Perform competitive analysis and gather customer feedback to recommend product improvements.

  • Attend tradeshows and meetings to promote Teledyne's products and capabilities.
  • Support the RMA process in collaboration with the inside sales team and quality department.
  • Record service and technical support provided to clients in a CRM environment.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related engineering degree required.
  • 3-5 years previous experience required.
  • Applied knowledge of RF Design and/or related coursework: RF transmission lines, impedance matching, AC&DC circuits, and digital logic.
  • Familiarity with electromechanical relays, solid state relays, power systems, coaxial switches and matrix switching systems preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple concurrent projects is required.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), coordination, interpersonal & organizational skills.
  • Proactive: driven to succeed and able to work independently within established timeframes.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office; Desktop publishing skills (Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator are a plus).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with electromechanical relays, solid state relays, power systems, coaxial switches and matrix switching systems (MIMO, Multiplexer) preferred.
