About the position

The Field Application Engineer at IPS is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to customers, ensuring successful implementation and optimization of IPS Power Systems generator and switchgear products. This role involves collaboration with customers, sales teams, and engineering teams to address technical requirements and challenges, offering solutions and troubleshooting as needed. The position requires travel to customer sites and demands in-depth knowledge of the company's product portfolio, making it essential for maintaining strong customer relationships and delivering exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and support to customers for IPS Power Systems products.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, offering pre-sales and post-sales support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct on-site and remote product demonstrations and training sessions.
  • Assist in the design, integration, and deployment of company products into customer applications.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular communication and visits.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings to promote company products.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to solve complex issues and implement product improvements.
  • Prepare and deliver technical documentation, including user guides and application notes.
  • Travel to customer sites for in-person support and technical discussions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical role, preferably in field applications or technical support.
  • In-depth understanding of generator systems, paralleling switchgear, and control systems, specifically Kohler products.
  • Proficiency in system integration, troubleshooting, and relevant hardware and software tools.
  • Ability to read and understand technical schematics and product specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with renewable energy systems.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
