About the position

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking an exceptional Engineer III, Field Applications to join our semiconductor nanoprobing/electrical failure analysis team in Richardson, TX. As an Engineer III, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and developing new techniques in support of Thermo Fisher's Semiconductor product development and introduction to the marketplace. This customer-facing position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class team and collaborate with diverse professionals across various customer application areas. Must reside within the Dallas Metro Area. Relocation not provided.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outstanding nanoprobing product demonstrations, focusing on the exploration of novel techniques and applications for Thermo Fisher partners and customers in the Semiconductor Failure Analysis marketplace.
  • Conduct customer training and translate customer needs into workable solutions.
  • Provide technical product expertise and assistance throughout the sales cycle.
  • Foster positive customer relationships and act as a high-level customer interface for specific instrument/application issues, giving in-depth technical presentations and assisting in application development.
  • Collaborate with marketing/development groups on future product developments and provide continuous feedback on system performance and potential problems.
  • Define technical solutions for crafting new products and deliver Best Practice documentation to customer-specific processes.
  • Fix and report software and hardware issues, and recommend potential applications consistent with customer requirements and technical feasibility.
  • Provide technical support to R D, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and other departments as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related Engineering subject area (advanced degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in Semiconductor electrical device characterization, process development, or manufacturing technology in target sectors and applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Scanning Electron Microscopes, electronic device testing, and vacuum systems.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor device operation, statistical process control, device physics, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (1 week a month) both domestically and internationally.
