The Field Application Engineer plays a critical role interacting with customers and internal Entegris functions serving as a Subject Matter Expert in single-use bioprocessing and cell therapy processes. This individual is a key contact for defining real world (customer centric) application studies, demos, supporting customer evaluations. In this role, a critical component is providing technical support for the sale and design of single-use bags and flow paths, sterilizing grade filters, mixers, various unit operation processing skids, and cryo/ ultra-low temperature freezing and thawing solutions. This role aids the business to effectively market, sell, and service a portfolio of ready to use single use solutions ranging from filtration and upstream bioreactor technologies to downstream including final fill and cold chain distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Be the technical SME partner to the regional account management team by working collaboratively to bring customers through the commercial stage processes from lead generation all the way to re-occurring orders by providing expert technical support at crucial stages.
  • Work closely with key customers to identify and understand their processes and product/solution needs and identify where Entegris LS products can fulfill the need.
  • Leverage expertise and interactions with end users and prospective customers of single use products to identify trends and propose important additions to our single-use system component library and system design space.
  • Help generate content for white papers/posters/application notes on Entegris LS product solutions generating end-user focused outcomes.
  • Assist laboratory personnel in developing and performing lab scale testing to mimic customer process steps including filterability trials.
  • Build an industry network and assist regional sales in building and maintaining relationships with customers.
  • Develop training materials that help educate customers on key applications.
  • Support sales with product Alpha and Beta evaluation, and ongoing customer centric evaluation support.
  • Serve as the technical advisor for product issues, assisting with customer communications such as inquiries and serving as a connection point for investigations and assisting gaining access to technical information.

Requirements

  • 4+ years related experience required;
  • BS or MS degree in an Engineering and/or Science discipline;
  • Knowledge of Bioprocessing and/or Biopharmaceutical manufacturing required; including the utilization of single-use closed system processing and the application of filtration across bioprocess unit operations;
  • Experience designing and implementing single use systems in bioprocess and cell and gene therapy applications preferred;
  • Experience with system-level engineering (e.g., electrical, controls, mechanical, and software) and designing and implementing single use systems (fluid dynamics experience preferred);
  • Direct knowledge of the use of plastics in bioprocessing, including use during the manufacturing and storage of biopharmaceuticals, prior experience with filtration technologies is a plus;
  • Strong skills in problem solving, customer orientation, product technology, and ability to listen effectively and communicate with impact;
  • Experience with implementing process technology requiring USP, ISO, FDA and other regulations is highly desired;
  • Desire and ability to travel ~50% of time to customer sites.

  • Experience with filtration technologies is a plus.
  • Fluid dynamics experience preferred.
