About the position

The Field Application Engineer (FAE) at Ultra Intelligence & Communications plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between the business development teams and the engineering team. This position focuses on providing technical support for tactical radio equipment, ensuring that military communication needs are met through innovative solutions. The FAE will engage in pre-sales and post-sales support, technical exchanges, and customer engagements, contributing to the development of cutting-edge communication technologies for military applications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support of Ultra Communications LOS and BLOS tactical radio equipment.
  • Provide pre-sales or post-sale technical support of company products and systems.
  • Present and interpret design, application, and service information to BD staff and customers.
  • Assess and analyze technical applications of Ultra's products and competing equipment to meet customer needs.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot equipment failures to determine causes and recommend corrective actions during customer test events and demos.
  • Plan and coordinate support for field trials, exercises, demos, and customer engagements.
  • Support the development of customer briefing materials, CONOPS, OV-1's, and competitive analysis.
  • Participate in technical exchanges with government labs, Program Management Offices, operational forces, and industry partners.
  • Support the planning and execution of trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Articulate unique customer requirements and identify/develop highly differentiated solutions to overcome complex communication challenges.
  • Act as a formal mentor to other field service representatives or field application engineers in the team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical electronics engineering or computer engineering preferred.
  • 5-10 years of supporting technical sales in the defense industry.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with US government procurement and regulations such as contracting, acquisition processes, and DOD budgets.
  • Ability to obtain US Security clearance equivalent to NATO Secret.
  • US Citizenship required for US Security Clearance.
  • Ability to travel 40% with monthly travel to US and Canadian locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong Radio Frequency background with in-depth understanding of Tactical LOS/BLOS Transport Networks and Software Defined Radios.
  • Strong IP Networking Skills.
  • Knowledge of US Army Air Defense platforms, architectures, and CONOPS.
  • Tactical communications experience is preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience briefing senior military leaders and managing relationships.
  • Previous experience supporting international technical demonstrations and customer events.
