The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) will play a crucial role in providing technical support to customers and collaborating with the broader Sales and FAE team. This position is centered around developing opportunities that incorporate MPS products and ensuring these opportunities transition smoothly into production solutions. The FAE will be responsible for identifying and communicating current and emerging technical needs of customers, which will not only enhance the positioning of MPS products but also guide the development of new products to meet market demands. In this dynamic role, the FAE will contribute to the growth of MPS US Revenue through both direct and indirect technical activities. A significant part of the job involves learning about MPS power products and technology, and effectively presenting this information to customers. Engaging with customers to understand their specific system power requirements is essential, as is providing tailored technical support that aligns MPS solutions with these requirements. Building strong technical relationships with the engineering community is also a key aspect of the role. The work environment is collaborative, requiring the FAE to work closely with engineers both internally and externally. Responsibilities will include creating power proposals that address customer requirements, modifying and testing MPS Evaluation Boards (EVBs) to gather preliminary data according to customer specifications, and reviewing schematics and layouts of MPS power solutions to ensure best practices are implemented. The FAE will also be involved in powering up initial prototypes with customers and assisting in the characterization of MPS devices within their systems. Debugging will be necessary as needed to further optimize the customers' MPS power designs.
