About the position

Teledyne LeCroy, Inc. is seeking a Field Applications Engineer to support their expanding test equipment business. This role is pivotal in delivering technical presentations, customer training, and hands-on product demonstrations to enhance customer understanding and satisfaction with Teledyne's state-of-the-art test and measurement equipment. The ideal candidate will be based near major metro areas such as Austin TX, Houston TX, Atlanta GA, Washington D.C., Boston MA, or Florida, with the flexibility to work from any location if they possess exceptional oscilloscope knowledge and presentation skills. In this position, the Field Applications Engineer will be responsible for assisting the field organization in meeting and exceeding sales quotas through their technical expertise in oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment. They will need to clearly articulate complex topics and respond to technical inquiries effectively. A deep understanding of various measurement application areas is essential, including three-phase power, power integrity, embedded systems, and automotive signaling, among others. The role requires the ability to organize and retrieve large amounts of information quickly during customer interactions, adapt to rapidly evolving technologies, and develop familiarity with each product to operate them proficiently while explaining the processes involved. Additionally, the Field Applications Engineer will support multiple phases of the sales process, including requirements analysis, product demonstrations, and customer training events. They will also be expected to write simple code scripts in Visual Basic, MATLAB, and Python as needed, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout their engagements. This position involves significant travel, up to 60%, across the US, Canada, and Mexico, making it essential for candidates to be comfortable with extensive travel requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver interesting, informative, and persuasive technical presentations, customer training classes, and hands-on product demonstrations.
  • Assist the field organization to meet and exceed sales quota through hands-on technical expertise of oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment.
  • Clearly explain complex topics and answer technical questions articulately.
  • Possess deep knowledge of various measurement application areas such as three-phase power, power integrity, embedded systems, and automotive signaling.
  • Organize large amounts of information and be prepared to rapidly retrieve the information during live customer interactions.
  • Learn quickly and adapt to rapidly evolving technologies.
  • Develop deep familiarity with each product and operate each with ease while explaining the steps being performed.
  • Write simple code scripts in Visual Basic, MATLAB, and Python when needed.
  • Support multiple phases of the sales process including requirements analysis, product demonstrations, and customer training events.
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • BSEE degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes or similar test and measurement equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain large amounts of information.
  • Passion for organizing and documenting large amounts of information for quick access during customer interactions.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
