About the position

The Field Applications Engineer (FAE) at Arrow Electronics is responsible for driving business opportunities by leveraging technical expertise and business acumen. This role involves engaging with customers to influence component selection, managing supplier and customer expectations, and supporting sales teams with technical solutions. The FAE will work closely with various stakeholders to maximize design wins and sales revenue while providing technical support and consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Spend a majority of time in front of customers to influence component selection.
  • Utilize advanced understanding of customer needs and technical leadership expertise to champion return on engineering investment.
  • Manage supplier and customer expectations by building and developing relationships.
  • Grow account base each quarter.
  • Drive demand creation by maximizing Arrow content on designs and leveraging engineering resources.
  • Identify solutions and resolutions to customer design needs and issues.
  • Monitor performance metrics and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Present technical seminars and workshops around supplier lines.
  • Provide frequent updates to the field sales team and motivate around supplier lines.
  • Partner with the sales team across pre-and post-sales activities, providing technical support and consulting.
  • Attend and actively participate in strategic branch meetings and QBR.
  • Develop and drive strategic technical plans by supplier line or customer solutions.
  • Organize engineering customer events.
  • Meet with suppliers to review recent customer design activity and identify solutions.
  • Attend supplier trainings in person and via conference calls.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a 4-year degree (engineering preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with system/board/engineering solutions and electronic components.
  • Breadth of knowledge of electronic components.
  • Experience with design engineering.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and take a new perspective using existing solutions.
  • Independent worker with minimal guidance.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Intermediate-to-advanced level experience using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with CRM and Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Oracle, Salesforce, and Microsoft Power BI.
