About the position

The Field Area Network Engineer / RF Engineer position involves leading the migration of 30,000 field devices from a legacy network to a new Private LTE/5G network. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to develop and execute migration plans, ensuring technical accuracy and operational efficiency throughout the process.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Team Lead for the FAN Device Migration.
• Contribute to the development of relevant Job packages for each device category/type.
• Support the development and execution of the Field Device testing strategy (Lab and Field as required).
• Coordinate and serve as the technical liaison with the RF engineering team.
• Review and assess RF coverage models/plots for each RAN site and validate the corresponding device coverage/migration plans.
• Serve as the liaison with the SCE Distribution Engineering and Apparatus groups.
• Advise on the applicable operational process development for each of the device categories.
• Attend regular project team meetings.
• Prepare technical reports/material pertaining to the device migration scope as requested by SCE.
• Ensure devices are configured, packaged and dispatched to the designated locations for installs in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Experience in RF engineering and field area network operations.
• Strong understanding of Private LTE/5G network technologies.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage device migration projects.
• Proficient in developing technical documentation and job packages.
• Experience with RF coverage modeling and assessment.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with legacy NetComm networks.
• Experience in project management within telecommunications.
