About the position

Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated and experienced field claims professional to join their team. This role involves handling insurance claims in the field under general supervision, covering specific counties. The position requires mastery of claims handling skills and offers the flexibility to work from home after initial training.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and assemble facts related to claims.
• Determine policy coverage and evaluate the amount of loss.
• Analyze legal liability for claims.
• Handle multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims.
• Become familiar with insurance coverage by studying policies, endorsements, and forms.
• Work toward the resolution of claims, attending arbitrations, mediations, depositions, or trials as necessary.
• Ensure timely and accurate claims payments.
• Conduct investigations via phone, mail, and on-site.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience handling property and casualty claims.
• A minimum of 3 years handling multi-line property and casualty claims with an emphasis on property claims.
• Field claims handling experience is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of Xactimate software is preferred but not required.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to resolve complex issues and organize and interpret data.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and effectively deal with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to accurately deal with mathematical problems, including geometry and financial areas.
• Possess a valid driver license and maintain a driving record consistent with the Company's underwriting guidelines.
