About the position

The Field Construction Technician - DOT at Tuff Shed is responsible for delivering high-quality storage buildings and providing exceptional customer service. This role involves warranty service, delivery, and maintenance of DOT vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety regulations while interacting with customers and managing product displays.

Responsibilities

• Safely delivers Tuff Shed storage buildings to various locations including Home Depot stores and customer properties.
• Performs customer service warranty repair tasks on-site effectively and courteously.
• Provides feedback to management regarding warranty issues and customer service.
• Delivers excellent customer service to current and prospective customers.
• Assists with off-site special events such as Home Shows and manages marketing materials.
• Logs on-duty hours using an Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with DOT requirements.
• Inspects DOT vehicle before and after trips, logging pre/post-trip inspections.
• Reports defective or worn tools to management in a timely manner.
• Ensures the vehicle's GPS device remains connected and operable.

Requirements

• General knowledge of the construction industry and basic carpentry skills.
• Ability to read tape measures, working drawings, and speed squares.
• Experience operating air compressors, air tools, and basic power tools.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in various forms.
• Experience driving flatbed trucks, box trucks, and towing trailers.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and obtain a DOT medical certificate.

Nice-to-haves

• Basic understanding of building permit requirements for the local territory/region.
• Experience as a 'big box' delivery driver.
• Familiarity with mobile application systems for scheduling and reporting.
