About the position

Mathematica is seeking Field Data Collectors Team Leaders for the 2024—2025 National School Foods Study, which aims to assess school-based nutrition programs. The role involves overseeing data collection efforts, coordinating a team, and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of collected data. This position is crucial for providing insights into the nutritional quality and practices of school meals across the nation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee a team of up to three people for onsite data collection tasks.
  • Conduct previsit calls with school contacts to confirm visits and reschedule as needed.
  • Meet regularly with project supervisors and report on site progress.
  • Troubleshoot any issues and work with their team and project supervisors to resolve issues.
  • Collect and review all hardcopy paperwork and ensure it's complete and correct before shipping back to project supervisors.
  • Conduct observations of school meal environments and/or measurements of foods offered, consumed, and wasted.
  • Conduct interviews and dietary recalls with students, parents/caregivers, and staff.
  • Safeguard any participant incentives, issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft.
  • Maintain confidentiality of project and participant information.
  • Submit timely and accurate Time & Expense reports.

Requirements

  • Experience supervising or leading a team.
  • Experience teaching, training, accounting, providing school nutrition services, or conducting computer-assisted surveys is preferred.
  • Experience working in school environments and professional settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including email and internet proficiency.
  • Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines and a commitment to reliability and high-quality productivity.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 25 hours per week for the duration of the project.
