About the position

The Field Data Collector position at Harris County Flood Control District involves identifying and documenting the physical conditions and features of channels and other District facilities. This role supports the Geographic Information Services (GIS) Department in maintaining the infrastructure essential for flood control in Harris County, which is crucial for managing the area's extensive stormwater facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and document the condition of the District's assets using hand-held computers, GPS equipment, and digital cameras.
  • Create GIS data required for asset assessment in the field.
  • Update asset data in the District's GIS databases.
  • Perform other duties that may be added or changed as the course and scope of the job directs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience using GIS products, equipment, mapping, and computer-aided design.
  • Experience with Esri's GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap.
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience operating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
