About the position

The Field Deployment Engineer at Oceanit is a multifaceted role focused on deploying and testing next-generation technologies at a pilot scale. This position is based in Houston, Texas, and involves close collaboration with the R&D office in Oahu, Hawaii. The role is designed to tackle the challenges of technology creation and global deployment, requiring hands-on industrial experience and a strong desire to innovate. The engineer will be responsible for managing field activities, supervising onsite crews, and ensuring successful implementation of technologies in the marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients about their needs and explain complex issues.
  • Manage field activities and implement engineering designs and solutions.
  • Supervise onsite crew (technicians) in implementing next-generation technology.
  • Draft documentation on technology implementation (SOPs).
  • Lead technology deployments with support from the technology deployment and execution team.
  • Collaborate with research teams to create large-scale pilot tests for new technology.
  • Oversee pilot scale testing at our staging facility in Houston, Texas.
  • Interface with Hawaii-based engineers on pilot scale data and product improvements.
  • Work closely with technicians to build systems and ensure successful implementation.
  • Deploy next-generation technologies into the marketplace with a commercial mindset.
  • Design and develop pilot scale testing protocols for various technologies.
  • Implement methods for large-scale proof of concept testing with the technical team.
  • Develop and test models and prototypes, redesigning as needed to meet customer specifications.
  • Contribute to technology development projects and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Utilize market knowledge to help craft technical and programmatic strategies.
  • Provide technical expertise, strategy, and business insights related to the tasks.
  • Develop manufacturing and quality control processes to ensure repeatability.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in an industrial field setting (e.g., Oil & Gas, Power Generation).
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Mechanically inclined with hands-on experience.
  • Adheres to a safety-first mindset.
  • Knowledgeable in the technical aspects of field projects, including equipment and machinery.
  • Experienced with pilot scale processes.
  • Team-oriented with strong communication skills, self-motivation, flexibility, and a willingness to learn.
  • Skilled in fabrication and machining for prototyping, testing, repair, and maintenance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of clearly conveying technical designs internally and externally.
  • Adaptable, able to transition between complex research problems and field settings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of coatings.
  • Understanding of Heat Exchanger Systems.
  • Familiarity with P&ID.
