About the position

The Field Development Manager (FDM) at Subway is responsible for executing the market development plan within the assigned territories of Pennsylvania, Maryland, or New Jersey. This role focuses on driving positive net restaurant growth by mitigating closures and facilitating new restaurant openings. The FDM will work closely with field operations teams, real estate brokers, and franchisees to optimize market opportunities and ensure the successful development of new locations.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and guide field operations teams on market optimization benefits and development plan decisions.
  • Identify suitable locations and franchisees for new restaurant development and submit proposals to the Real Estate Team.
  • Evaluate opportunities for improving existing assets through site selection, relocations, and remodels.
  • Develop relationships with Real Estate Brokers to identify and evaluate market opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Market Planning team to execute Market Optimization Plans and fill identified gaps.
  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations regarding restaurant closures in partnership with the Field Operations Team.
  • Complete ELVRs for non-viable restaurants and assess their viability with senior management.
  • Drive positive net restaurant growth by reducing closures and increasing new openings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial development, preferably in the restaurant or retail industry.
  • Experience working with franchisees is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of market optimization and small business growth.
  • Familiarity with market brokers and real estate processes.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and time management skills.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions, financial consulting, and business valuation in a QSR environment.
  • Understanding of franchise and licensing laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Proficient in Strategic Planning, Sales Analysis, Consumer Insights, and Brand Management.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, MS Teams, and Sitewise.

  • Experience in the restaurant industry.

  • Experience leading cross-functional decision-making.
