About the position

IRISNDT is currently seeking an experienced Field Draftsman for a full-time nested role within a client site located in the Tulsa, OK area. This position is integral to our operations, where the Field Draftsman will be responsible for creating and modifying isometric drawings based on Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and actual field conditions. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy, as the draftsman will systematically update and complete piping isometric drawings within a specified timeframe. The Field Draftsman will also participate in inspection surveys alongside API 570 inspectors, identifying and marking any noncompliance or deviations between the actual site and existing as-built isometric drawings. In addition to drawing responsibilities, the Field Draftsman will notify the API 570 Inspector of daily progress and work closely with the Document Control Coordinator to ensure drawing accuracy. The position demands adherence to company values and compliance with laws and regulations, ensuring that all technical documents are managed and updated accurately. The draftsman will also be expected to draw and modify technical drawings across various disciplines, including piping, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and equipment, while following specifications and calculations. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as the draftsman will need to identify and communicate potential design problems to the rest of the team, contributing to the overall mission of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Create and/or modify isometric drawings based on P&ID's and actual field conditions.
  • Participate and assist API 570 inspector on inspection survey of each individual piping circuit.
  • Identify, mark up and highlight any noncompliance or deviation between actual site and existing as-built isometric drawings.
  • Systematically update and complete piping isometric drawings within the given timeframe with highest accuracy quality.
  • Notify daily progress report to API 570 Inspector on daily basis.
  • Work with the Document Control Coordinator to ensure drawing accuracy.
  • Contribute to the mission of the organization and adheres to company's values.
  • Ensure that all activities are carried out according to laws and regulations, policies and procedures of the company and practices generally accepted.
  • Ensure all technical documents are managed and updated accurately.
  • Draw and/or modify drawings of any discipline at facility (piping, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, equipment).
  • Follow specifications and calculations to create various technical drawings.
  • Identify and communicate potential design problems to the rest of the team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in drafting of oil and gas structures or in related projects or industry is strongly preferred; Refinery and or Petrochemical experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with Isometric Field Drafting of piping circuits is required; Familiarity with P&ID's considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new procedures and equipment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high-level of accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at a time.
  • Interpersonal skills to work within a team, taking direction from Projects Managers and or Engineers.
  • Time-management skills to complete error-free work within the required timeframe.
  • Communication skills with an emphasis on reading and writing for creating documentation and reports.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to develop creative solutions.
