About the position

GPAC is actively seeking a dynamic and motivated Field Engineer to ensure their construction operations go forward smoothly. This position involves working on heavy civil and underground utilities construction projects. The Field Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the project team and ensuring that all construction activities are executed in accordance with safety standards and project specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in civil engineering or a related field, along with practical experience in construction environments. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to achieve project goals. The Field Engineer will be responsible for tracking production metrics, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality control measures. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to significant construction projects while developing professional skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Engineer with various project duties.
  • Implement Company and Project Safety Plans.
  • Support field teams with safety and technical requirements.
  • Track and report production metrics.
  • Coordinate and communicate with project and safety teams.
  • Estimate material quantities needed for construction.
  • Verify field production quantities and rates.
  • Monitor and address quality control issues with construction materials.
  • Verify material deliveries comply with project plans and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing and tracking project submittals.
  • Obtain necessary permits and handle utilities locate prior to project commencement.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or 2 years equivalent construction experience.
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Positive attitude and ability to collaborate with fellow employee-owners.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Heavy Civil and/or Industrial Construction.
  • Ability to read and understand project documents, including plans, specifications, and special provisions.
  • Experience with Heavy Job system is a plus.
