About the position

The Electrical Field Engineer at Bechtel is responsible for overseeing electrical operations within construction projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, schedules, and budgets. This role involves collaboration with project teams, preparation of construction drawings, material management, and adherence to safety and quality control standards. The engineer will report to the Project Field Engineer and support various project activities, particularly in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
  • Facilitates planning construction methods and procedures.
  • Supports the superintendent in preparation and implementation of the 3-week look-ahead and four-week rolling schedule and budget control.
  • Coordinates with other discipline superintendents and field engineers for interface coordination of construction work activities and plans.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
  • Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities and leads the quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others.
  • Leads in process quality verifications during construction phase over respective discipline using GIS software and Smart Completions/Setroute.
  • Provides senior leadership for environmental, safety, health, injury/accident and fire prevention on the project.
  • Ensures applicable documents for electrical commodities are provided to direct hire craft personnel to complete work.
  • Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned electrical work activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development.
  • Completes final system walk-downs, deficiency tracking, and close-out.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans and coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of EPC and EPCM construction programs, technologies, means and methods.
  • Intermediate knowledge of supervisory functions relating to construction field activities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.
  • Intermediate knowledge of electrical commodity and equipment installation including cable pulling, terminations, and underground direct bury cable installation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior SetRoute/Smart Completions experience.
  • Prior GIS experience.
