About the position

As a Field Engineer at LTS Managed Tech Services LLC dba Ledcor Group, you will be a pivotal job-site leader in health and safety, ensuring that all engineering work is executed in a professional and ethical manner. Reporting directly to a Project Engineer or Project Manager, your primary responsibilities will encompass contract administration, project planning, scheduling, and project reporting. This role is crucial as it serves as an advisory capacity to Project Management regarding contractual, legal, and various project-related issues. You will be expected to uphold the highest standards of quality in reporting and workmanship, contributing to the overall success of the project and the safety of all personnel involved. In this position, you will engage in both field and office engineering tasks. Field engineering responsibilities include reading and interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews, performing quantity calculations, assisting in the preparation of work plans, and supporting field surveying and work layout. You will also be responsible for compiling daily labor timesheets, participating in safety reviews and training, ordering materials, and coordinating work groups on-site. Your office engineering duties will involve performing basic engineering calculations, supporting engineers in data preparation, maintaining project records, and generating change orders for review by the Project Manager. The role also includes estimating responsibilities, where you will assist in reviewing historical data for projects, complete material and quantity takeoffs, and assess risk areas in project plans. Responsibilities

  • Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
  • Performing quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
  • Assisting in the preparation of work plans and work packages.
  • Supporting field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data.
  • Compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets.
  • Participating in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training.
  • Ordering and scheduling material deliveries.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating work groups on the jobsite.
  • Supervising field operations.
  • Performing basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations.
  • Supporting Engineers in gathering and preparing data for submittal or transmittal to customers, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use.
  • Preparing purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested.
  • Assisting in schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others.
  • Maintaining basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums.
  • Assisting with entering data into the job cost system and participating in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management.
  • Generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager.
  • Providing field support and supervising subcontractor operations.
  • Assisting in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid.
  • Completing a plan and specification review for an assigned project and assessing the risk areas.
  • Completing material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel to project sites and stay at site for the duration of the project.
  • Two plus years of construction field experience.
  • Work experience in a Field Engineering position or similar role such as Surveyor, Foreperson, Superintendent, or Project Coordinator.
  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field (preferred).
  • Strong computer background including experience with Microsoft Office and scheduling software, such as Primavera.
  • Experience with other construction planning and management software (3D model viewers and/or document management systems) (preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, confident in verbal and written interactions with key contacts.
  • Knowledge of main construction office processes: project setup, subcontract management, change management, RFIs, technical reviews, and project closeout.
  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative.
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help ensure that nobody gets hurt.
