About the position

KION North America Corporation, a member of KION GROUP AG, is seeking a Field Engineer to support the implementation of our growth strategy in Advanced Applications. This position is based at our headquarters in Summerville, SC, and is not a remote role. The Field Engineer will play a multifunctional role that extends across various areas of the organization, primarily focusing on technical aspects while also collaborating with multiple departments. This includes participation in sales, customer support, and project management activities. The role involves routine interaction with end-user customers and our dealer network, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. As the subject matter expert (SME) for advanced applications, the Field Engineer will be responsible for telematics and truck and pedestrian awareness systems, encompassing both software and hardware components. Key responsibilities include installing product hardware at customer locations, which may involve facility installations and installations on industrial trucks. The Field Engineer will also configure customer sites using software programs and support sales staff and dealers during the sales process by providing answers to questions and feedback. Managing multiple customer projects with varying hardware and software products is a critical aspect of this role, requiring coordination with application engineers, technicians, and dealers to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to customer expectations. Additionally, the Field Engineer will assist in defining project scope, objectives, and execution, contribute to new product development, and provide customer service. Conducting product training sessions in both digital and in-person formats and monitoring project performance are also part of the job. This role is vital in helping KION North America maintain its reputation for innovative technologies and exceptional service in the industrial truck manufacturing sector.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the SME (subject matter expert) for advanced applications including telematics and truck and pedestrian awareness systems, both software and hardware.

Requirements

  • Technical Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Software, Computer Science, Electrical) or related desired, or equivalent work experience in forklift service or forklift production.
  • Forklift service or forklift production experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote, Teams).
  • Additional experience with CAD type software is a plus.
  • Comfortable learning new software.
  • Mechanical aptitude and electronic equipment experience is desired.
  • Ability to lead projects with limited supervision.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Team-oriented and customer-focused.
  • A focus on performance and results.
  • Dependable with attention to detail and strong initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in customer support is a plus.
  • Prior forklift or telematics experience is a plus.
