About the position

The Jamar Company is seeking a Field Engineer to join our dynamic and forward-thinking Industrial team. This position operates under general supervision and is integral to the execution of national project work in the industrial construction sector. The Field Engineer will provide safe assistance across all facets of projects that are in varying stages of the construction process. This includes responsibilities such as estimating, productivity reporting, preparation of bid packages, equipment and material processing, and handling paperwork and customer submittals. The role demands a proactive approach to planning, coordination, and execution of industrial projects, all while working in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment alongside multiple project personnel. Professional communication with team members and stakeholders is essential to ensure project success. The Field Engineer will be expected to have a thorough understanding of safety standards and requirements, both for the company and our customers. Key responsibilities include preparing bid packages and other necessary paperwork, developing schedules, submittals, material lists, and as-built drawings. The role also involves compiling cost estimates and assisting in proposal preparation. Document control functions are critical, including tracking and creating Requests for Information (RFIs), transmitting and tracking submittals, and providing assistance to field personnel with document follow-through. The Field Engineer will also be responsible for research and understanding technical engineering information to ensure compliance with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions. Evaluating potential field issues and collaborating with field personnel, other trades, and customers is also a key aspect of this role. The Field Engineer will provide assistance during all project phases and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to required safety standards and requirements of the company and customers.
  • Prepare bid packages and other necessary paperwork (PO's, submittals, etc.).
  • Develop schedules, submittals, material lists, and as-built drawings.
  • Assist in compiling cost estimates and proposal preparation.
  • Perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures, including tracking and creating RFIs and transmitting and tracking submittals.
  • Assist field personnel with document follow-through and progress tracking throughout project duration.
  • Research and understand technical engineering information to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
  • Evaluate potential field issues and refer them to a Project Manager or Superintendent for final submission and documentation.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, other trades, and customers.
  • Provide assistance during all project phases and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Technical or undergraduate degree in business, construction management, engineering, or a related field, OR at least two years' experience in supporting industrial, commercial, or service projects.
  • Technical aptitude and advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills; ability to schedule and coordinate projects to meet deadlines.
  • Valid State Driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel to project sites, including up to 50% travel.
