About the position

CS Energy is seeking Field Engineers to support renewable energy projects across the United States, primarily focusing on the East Coast. The Field Engineer will collaborate closely with Project Operations and Field Management teams to build strong client relationships, work effectively with colleagues, and ensure the construction of safe, high-quality, and profitable projects that adhere to scheduled timelines. This role is crucial in assisting the Assistant Project Manager and Superintendent with various tasks, including managing shop drawings, submittals, scheduling subcontractors and materials, conducting meetings, preparing as-built drawings, overseeing job costs, procurement, and performing quality checks, including torque checks, as part of field operations. The Field Engineer will be assigned to projects nationwide, with a primary focus on the Northeast and Southeast regions, and must be willing to work 100% onsite at construction sites. This position requires travel and may involve temporary relocation near project sites. As an entry-level role, it serves as a stepping stone for individuals aspiring to advance into Project Management, Estimating, and Construction Management roles. The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, performing inspections, managing field operations, and maintaining documentation related to project submittals and material certifications. Additionally, the role involves assisting with daily finance functions, supply chain processes, and maintaining project trackers and reports. The position is field-based, requiring the individual to work in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors, while adhering to safety protocols and using personal protective equipment as necessary. Candidates must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment drug test and comply with CS Energy's hiring requirements, including background checks. Responsibilities

  • Comply with EHS policies and address or elevate noncompliance issues.
  • Perform, document, and communicate EHS and QAQC inspections and results.
  • Assist in managing field operations and ensure all engineering processes are followed.
  • Generate and manage project submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and material certifications to ensure all are submitted and approved prior to the start of work.
  • Perform inspections on all received materials, including material receiving reports, over short and damage reports, and maintain document control of all tasks.
  • Assist APMs and PMs with daily finance functions, such as Penta, OnBase, Change Orders, and Project Buyout.
  • Assist with Supply Chain functions, including vendor setup and procurement processes, and produce complete purchase orders after conditions are approved by required signatories.
  • Maintain daily updates through project tracker and manage the upload of photos and daily reports.
  • Collect and input quantity tracking for self-perform and subcontractor work daily.
  • Collect and distribute meeting minutes for all external communication.
  • Attend and participate in all daily huddles.
  • Assist Project Superintendent with new hire paperwork, foreman reports, field inspections, and field-related tasks.
  • Familiarize themselves with all Subcontractor and Vendor contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Renewable Engineering, Engineering, or other related fields.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite with strong proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Previous internship in solar and/or construction management is highly desired.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and people skills are essential.
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel and/or temporarily relocate to project construction sites every 3-12 months throughout the region of the United States.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry conditions.
