About the position

The Field Engineer II at MasTec's Clean Energy and Infrastructure Group is responsible for overseeing project controls and management across multiple disciplines. This role involves direct support to Craft Superintendents, managing project planning, scheduling, procurement, and reporting. The Field Engineer II will interface with various stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and adherence to safety and quality standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company professionally in all client interactions.
  • Provide contract-required reports to clients on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Understand and follow the Corporate Safety Plan and site-specific safety plan.
  • Perform quantity calculations and determine the percentage of completed work.
  • Develop processes for creating and reviewing work plans and packages.
  • Ensure the site quality plan is communicated and inspections are completed on time.
  • Manage daily labor timesheets and compile weekly Average Labor Rate reports.
  • Train staff on completing Job Safety Analyses (JSA's).
  • Participate in job site safety reviews and meetings.
  • Order and schedule material deliveries, developing procurement status reports.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate workgroups on the job site.
  • Perform material takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
  • Assist Engineers in preparing data for submittals and transmittals.
  • Prepare field-issued purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Supervise subcontractor operations and provide field support.
  • Manage project recordkeeping and correspondence functions.
  • Create and monitor project controls such as productivity tracking and risk logs.
  • Generate change orders and as-built data for review by the Project Manager.
  • Lead the budgeting process and assist with cost forecasting.
  • Establish cash flow forecasts to ensure positive cash flow for the project.
  • Act as the primary company representative in the absence of the Project Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering plans and contract documents.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety and quality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with project management software.
  • Familiarity with construction site operations and safety protocols.
